Changing the world might seem like an insurmountable task, but I believe that’s because many people approach changing the world in the wrong way. They focus on trying to create wide-sweeping changes in the political and social structures around them. The problem is, these structures have been sturdy for so long that they are almost impossible to change.

I recently wrote on the topic of goals verses standards. How are you doing? It’s entirely possible the fizzle of excitement has faded. And, it’s completely normal. Achieving your goals and standards takes time, dedication, and discipline. Let’s bring back that excitement and get your goals to the forefront.

Sinek’s message is simple. The ability to inspire those around you, to achieve remarkable things, to feel fulfilled by “what” you do starts with knowing your purpose, your “why.” Sinek explains, “Once you understand your WHY, you’ll be able to clearly articulate what makes you feel fulfilled and to better understand what drives your behavior when you’re at your natural best. When you can do that, you’ll have a point of reference for everything you do going forward. You’ll be able to make more intentional choices for your business, your career and your life. You’ll be able to inspire others to buy from you, work with you and join your cause.”
Excellent and inspiring work. Except, what if you can’t find your why?

Say goodbye to your goals.
Standards are the key to accomplishment.
We can’t deny it. As the New Year arrives, we set new goals and proclaim our new year’s resolutions. Maybe you bought a new planner and pretty pen, colorful new workout clothes, or even a new recipe book because surely these things are the key to your success. (If only it were that easy.) Nevertheless, it does not take long and the excitement starts to fizzle. For a few this tends to be a yearly pattern. So what is the key? Your standards could be the missing link to achieving your goals year after year.
So let’s shift our thoughts and plans from setting goals to raising our standards.
