2019 Women Of Influence Summit | Dear Younger Me

As we prepare for #Summit2019 we thought it would be fun for all you to get to know our speakers. So we've interviewed each one to share a little about them and what they are looking forward to at this years Women of Influence Summit! Read below to learn a little about Sarah Mason!

Tell us about your education and career path:

I received my bachelor’s degree at St. Cloud State University and have been working in talent acquisition/human resources for over seven years in various roles in Minneapolis, Dallas and St. Cloud. For almost five years, I have been working on the Talent Acquisition team at ATS, supporting our offices across the Nation.

What is the best part of your job?

Hands down the relationships I build both internally and externally. I also love the strategy behind the company’s growth and the execution of seeing our plans through.

What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

After spending a few summers working an internship in Crete, Greece I have learned to speak a little Greek. Xia sou file mu!

What is your favorite family tradition?

I love Christmas. Perhaps a little too much. As soon as Halloween passes my trees go up and the Hallmark channel comes on. Christmas Eve with my family is my favorite day of the year, we never miss it.

What would you name the autobiography of your life?

Coffee, prayer, slay, repeat.

What would you do for a career if you weren't doing this?

This is a tough question! I often joke that my dream job would be to recruit for my guilty pleasure, ABC’s the bachelor/bachelorette.

Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why?

Almost exactly one year ago my husband and I honeymooned in Ireland. It is hands down the most picturesque place I’ve ever been, but I would say the company I had with me is what made it my favorite trip.

What is your favorite meal?

Anything Italian. I could eat pasta every day and never get sick of it.

How do you keep a healthy work-life balance?

I’m just starting to get better at this. Every day, carve out time to forget your phone and unplug for a little while. If you are taking time off, leave guilt at the door and lean on your team to support you while you are out.

What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?

For my 30th birthday this year, I got to take my premature baby home from the hospital for the first time. 100% my best gift ever!

What book do you most often recommend to others and why?

"The life changing magic of tidying up." It’s hard to let go of things of which we feel emotionally connected to. This book helped me learn to let go of items that have already served their purpose. A clean space is a clean mind!

How has Next Monday been of value to you and your career?

I’ve been challenged to get out of my comfort zone and have an incredible tribe of women to lean on and learn from both personally and professionally.

What is your favorite memory from past Summit events?

I am typically out of the state every year for this summit, so this will be my very first!

What are you looking forward to at the 2019 Women of Influence Summit?

I’m looking forward to making connections and absorbing wisdom and guidance from some pretty incredible women.

What are you hoping to share with fellow attendees at the Women of Influence Summit?

It’s a powerful to feel like we aren’t alone with our fears and insecurities. I’m hoping that attendees will be able to identify themselves in experiences that will be shared and learn to push beyond their comfort zone to develop and grow.
